Thanks, if you keep a checkin on my thread in beginners you will see I will have 3 tanks to fill with rock. I have some dead corals now but dang it if in my searching I have found most of them live lol. I may try to take them all back to LFS for store credit or something (they will bleach and re-sell). Well I have 10 lbs of Tonga fusion sitting in the empty 30 gal, I have not been able to find any rock I like around here so have not purchased any but these 2 pieces so far. At 1 LFS rock is $5.00 lb but the place U bought this was $6.99 lb, I told owners mom, (small store) it was cheaper at other store she gave me any rock I wanted $5 lb, so I got 2 for the price of one, guess I lucked out a little. __________________ 90 Gal Reef Tank

I worked on it over the holidays but, didn't get it pumping water like I had hoped. Word to the wise... Don't let your wife catch you installing electrical stuff in your stand when your are supposed to be spending Chrismas Eve with the family. I didn't even bother working on it on Chrismas after the silent treatment I got the night before.
Here's the sump...

Here's the MH Ballasts...

Here's the light test...

The outside fixtures are bluer than the middle one.
Here's the RODI unit under the laundry room sink... Wife not happy.

No more buying water 10 gallons at a time. |

I filled the tank yesterday with tap water to do my leak test. After some early success... it all went to $%^&!!! 5 or 6 leaks. 1 real big one that turned out to be a missing gasket in my union leading from my sump, 1 medium leak from a bulkhead and 4 little leaks from the "T's" in my closed loop manifold...
Just started...

Setting the mood...

Closed loop getting fired up...

She's full...

Disaster strikes...

I caught the water in time. Only 4 or 5 towels got wet and my pride got a little bruised. I'm just hoping I can repair it w/o having to completely rebuild the plumbing.
I was told that very small leaks can sealup with salt water. |

hey it looks great, Where are you located?
I read about your rock purchasing......Out here in Utah, we go out to the salt flat area, and collect Lake Bonneville Tuffa Rock, It is a calcium carbonate....or in other words, the Lake Bonneville reef rock......all you have to do is pressure wash it, and soak it, the repeat the process untill it is clean.......then put it in a tank mixed with live rock, and the bacteria quickly spreads, and soon it is all live..... If someone is going to spend $300 on rock, and lives within driving distance, you should stop in and I will take you out to the collection areas.....all you need is a sledge hammer and a truck.....I have both......oh and it is on BLM land so you can only take 200lbs at a time.....there is also calcium carbonate sand out there that just has to be washed and then seeded with live sand......around here, the live rock at the lfs is only $3-$4 per lbs because of all this.... __________________ http://www.eaglecreekcabinets.net

I started by constucting a rigid structure from eggcrate...

Then I zip-tied 150 lbs of Marco Rocks to it... (If I never see another zip tie, it will be too soon)...

Then I filled in the gaps with Great Stuff insulating spray foam... Prior to this, I was a little worried because the whole structure seems very shakey but the foam really tightened it up...

Then I moved into the house and started to brush on an epoxy finishing resin and coating the foam with sand and crushed coral...

Then I moved it into the tank and broke both pillars off and found out that it was too big. "Measure twice, cut once!" Right? |

That really is amazing. so theres no risk of any kind of contamination with the brush on epoxy or Best Stuff? I assume both cure chemically neutral. __________________ -37 gal. reef tank

What are the 3 holes on the back of your tank for? I see that it has dual spillways on the back, but in the pic below, it doesnt seem that anything goes to those 3 holes. Return lines? __________________ -37 gal. reef tank
