This is pretty random, but I was wondering if anybody has experienced this with a orangespot diamond goby. When I feed the tank and the nassiurus snails start popping up to grab what they can, my goby has started grabbing them by the antenna and carrying them to the back of the tank and tossing them back there. I still feed them separately so they are fine, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen this behavior at all. I think it is hilarious to watch.

Forum: Saltwater Fish Chat

I let the bag sit for 30 mins. every 10 mins i would stick a lil of the water in the bag with a cup. Then i waited another 5 mins. I took him out. feed the other fish and let him loose on the other side. He swam down looked around for a min the hid under a rock. He would just stick his head out here and there. The next day he still didnt come out but i could see him. I put some shrimp next to it in the sand. Then the next day still the same it was still there and he was sitll looking out. Then this morning he was lying dead on his side. Its a bummer. Was he stressed or what. He was at the lfs for about 2 weeks. i seen him and was just looking for for a good hardy sand sifter. Any idea why so i wont make the same mistake or anyone else know of any other sand sifter goby i should think about getting. thank you.

Forum: Saltwater Fish Chat

Ok, After reading a few posts I've decided I may have prematurely disposed of my tahitian pink tip anemone. I'm thinking about getting another one and this time smaller. I have quite a few fish now, though. What are the odds of it capturing and eating them?

Forum: Saltwater Fish Chat

Skinny Lawnmower Blenny

My lawnmower blenny has always been rotund. It's gotten super skinny lately. It seems to eat some pellets or flakes, but is ignoring the seaweed. I don't have any algae on my rocks besides coralline. Maybe it's just old (I've had it for over 2 years), but any suggestions on what to feed it? It used to be aggressive and now is pretty timid. It's still active and swimming fine. Besides thinness, it looks fine.

Forum: Saltwater Fish Chat

Success!

today i came home from work and checked a small food container where i kept some of the green chromis eggs. As i peaked in i saw a bunch of microscopic clear chromis swimming around! and the thing about it was that it wasn't even hard! i had not planned on them hatching i was gonna throw that water out today actually. Now if i can set up a 10gal. with airation i can really get things going better.

feeding question. what can i feed these guys? can i feed them liquid phytoplankton such as phytoplex? i really don't feel like going out of my way right now to raise them properly ill just do what i can. but next time ill be sure to be ready to raise them. Which i know for a fact will happen because the dominant male has been rotating with 5 or 6 of the females. Had i scraped a huge amount of these little guys off the tank wall i would of had alot more.

Forum: Reef Chat

Hey guys Im going to be on a vacation for 9 days starting this friday. I am going to Costa Rica and probably going to visit Isla de Coco which has many coral reefs.
Finger Leather Turning Brown

Ok, First of all: my parameters are in check. I don't have certain tests however. I only have ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH and all are fine. All other fish and coral are fine? it looks sort of (but dn't take my word for it) like algae is growing on the tips. Could this be due to too much light? It's maybe five inches from water surface. I've pointed the water flow towards it since I've heard algae can't grow in high flow areas. Also I have heard leathers have been known to not expand and then go back to normal. it's been not totally expanded for about...three or four days??? Maybe even a week. Is this normal??

Forum: Reef Chat
